Depression
Depression can be a debilitating condition that diminishes your capacity to feel pleasure, hope, and joy. It's associated with listlessness, crushing fatigue, reduced motivation, and an inability to focus. It can be conceptualized as way of numbing emotions that are too painful to tolerate.
Shame, fear, anger, and sadness can be difficult to understand and manage. These emotions stem from a combination of factors such as unresolved trauma, poor nutrition, and/or the loss of a loved one. Sometimes you can learn to cope with depression on your own but other times you might need the help of a qualified practitioner.
Seeking psychotherapy can free you from a perpetual cycle of dread, isolation, and helplessness. Psychotherapy is an important learning endeavor that will help you understand the roots of your depression and how to overcome it.
